Small's SAL February Check-in

Good afternoon everyone,

Can you believe I have 2 post in 1 week?  Very unusual for me.  I decided to participate in the 2017 Small's SAL hosted by Stitching Lotus.  This month I have 2 finishes.

The first one is a FFO and is by San-Man Originals.

This is a piece of 28 ct Monaco I experimented with fabric dyeing with craft paint.  I don't think I will use this technique.  However, this next finish was ice dyed using craft paint and 28 ct Monaco.  It was much better to stitch with.

This was a super old freebie from my stash that was suppose to be a biscornu.  I even added the border to make it bigger but it still wasn't big enough for what I wanted so I will make it into either a pillow or ornament.  I will use the background Valentine's fabric.

The only thing I am disappointed in was the fact I couldn't complete Winter Garden by Turquoise Graphics and Design.  All I have left is some of the gold and mauve beads.  I hope to show you by the end of March for the next check-in.

The picture is terrible and really doesn't show you all the progress that I have made but that is ok.

Thanks again for looking,
Have a great weekend,
Mary

Focus on a Finish February for Theme-Tas-Stitch

Good morning everyone,

I joined this lovely SAL hosted by Kerryp77 over at Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict.

This is the first month and the theme was Focus on a Finish.  I chose Winter Garden ornament by Turquoise Graphs and Designs.  It is challenging because there is quite a bit of beading and I don't do a lot of beading.  This has been a UFO/WIP for about 9 months.  Here is a picture:

I didn't complete it but I hope to this week.  I only have gold and mauve beads to work with for this to be complete.  Pictures do not do it justice; it is really pretty.

I hope I can finish this by next week for the 2017 Smalls Challenge SAL check-in.

Next months Theme-Tas-Stitch is March Madness.  I currently have 2 large projects in rotation.  I also rotate smalls.  I guess I will have to start kitting up more for March Madness.  Probably some St- Patrick's and Easter smalls.

Thanks for checking out my blog.
Have a great week.

Small Halloween finish

Good evening,

I usually have a basket full of kitted smalls to work on when I have extra time to spare.  I decided to try to match up patterns to sewing fabric in my stash so I can thin it out, so I can buy more beautiful fabric. I finished this today and made it into an ornament. The fabric on the back of the ornament is a bunch of eyeballs so this pattern was perfect.

It is called Pina Ghoulada by Hot House Petunia Designs and was in the October 2015 JCS issue.

I don't think I mentioned my 2017 goals/plans but I want to stitch larger pieces and I want to make 1 for each of my 3 sons and hopefully my husband too.  I am currently alternating between Circle Des Cirque by Ink Circles and White Tigers by Stoney Creek.
Yes, this pattern of the White Tigers is driving me crazy with all the color changes that Stoney Creek is known for, but I know Blake will love it when I am done.  It didn't help that I had to frog out a pretty large section because I was a stitch off. Hopefully, the frog is gone for good.

Lastly, I joined Theme-Tas-Stitch hosted by Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict.  The theme for February is to stitch and try to finish a UFO/WIP.  I am maybe 2/3rd's into Winter Flower (it is an ornament with beading) and I have been dragging my feet for months.  I hope I can compete it by check-in on the 21st.  I don't have a lot of experience with beading and I don't like the way it looks but I am determined to finish it to gain experience.

I hope you all have a great weekend.
