A crochet finish and an updated WIP pic

Good morning everyone on this windy day.  I can't believe the fluctuation in temperature this week.  I am staying home and catching up on alittle housework (yuck) and some stitching.  I am re-learning how to crochet and I just put the finishing stitches on this scarf.  Here is my handsome model, my oldest son Bradley.  He really likes it.

It will definately keep him warm when it get windy and cold.  Here is a close up photo.  It is all double crochet.  I am pleased that my middle son liked it so much he wants his done in the Saints colors.

Now that all my sons have at least one scarf I can now rotate the crochet/knitting to the weekends.  It is easier to do than cross stitch.  I started this one last night but wont work on it until the weekend.  The yarn is so soft and yummy.  I haven't decided if I will keep it for myself or give it to my mom.  She loves purple.  I will see how well it looks before I make a decision.

My neighbor is teaching me how to knit.  I started over what I did at her house because it was awful.  I read a beginners book I have at the house and decided to hold the yarn in my right hand and it went so much better.

Last but not least, I have made slow progress with this UFO.  I am determined to finish it soon.  I will work on it during the week and will move the Novalee christmas WIP until this is done.  Wish me luck.

I am pleased that Bonnie received her package in the mail.  Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my blog.  Have a wonderful week.

The winner to the giveaway---

Is Bonnie. Congratulations!  I have just sent you an email.  I am sorry I had to close the giveaway early but I wasn't sure I would be online.  I will definately get it in the mail on Tuesday.  I forgot the post office will be closed on Monday.

I just wanted to show you some updates as well.  The first item I want to show is a scarf I am crocheting for my middle son.  Once a week my neighbor Cari and I go to another neighbors house to do needlework.  I was able to do 2-1/2 rows this week.  I hope to finish it by Thursday because she is going to teach me how to knit.  I am scared but excited.

My very sweet neighbor/friend gifted me 2 different Thirty-one bags. One for my cross-stitching and one for my crochet/knitting materials.  I will have to make both Yvonne and Cari a biscornu as a thank you gift.  I know they would love one.

Well Cari and I were doing so well with walking once the kids got on the bus.  However, since we detest the cold, wet, windy, rainy conditions that occur this time of year in North Carolina, we are going to craft together instead.  We figure we wont be able to eat if we are doing our crafts and it will make it less lonely.  I have finished the wording and the ribbon border on this Christmas WIP.  I will do this on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.  I really want to get this done.
I am a member of Wednesdays UFO group on facebook.  I have yet to dedicate a Wednesday for a UFO. However, I have found the perfect project.  This is no longer available and was a free design in 2010.  I wanted to finish it last year but wasn't able to.  It will get done this year (I hope). I am using Dinky Dyes silk on Belfast linen and love working with this floss.

Well thank you for visiting my blog, it really means so much to me.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Valentine's Biscornu finish and a giveaway

Hello everyone,  I hope everyone is doing well.  I am not sure what is going on with blogger but I hope this entry gets posted.  It was so chaotic in my house over the holidays I thought I was going to explode.  We purchased several pieces of furniture so I had to go through all of our clothes and my stash.  I had to find a new home for my treasures and it is now in 3 seperate rooms.  I am not happy about that but at least I didn't get rid of everything.  I foolishly promised myself I wouldn't purchase anything for at least 3 months.  It lasted 2 weeks.  Oh well, what can I say, I can't resist a sale or a good deal.  I bought some PTP Lugana in Phoenix and some needles during JJ Collectibles New Years sale.  Then I went to the thrift store yesterday and bought 2 crochet books, 3 crochet doily books, 2 crochet mini books, a book on how to knit,  2 old cross stitch books, 1 cross stitch magazine, 3 booklets for about $4.50.  Who could resist that?  Not me.

Anyway, I purchased this pattern by Barbara Ana as part of my stitchy Christmas present to myself.  I wanted to finish this early so I could give it away to one of my followers.  I just want to let you know there is a smoker in my house and I have dogs just in case you have allergies. I would love to pass this pattern on to a new home; it was such a fun stitch.  I will close the giveaway on Sunday night 2pm Eastern Standard Time so it can get in the mail on Tuesday.

Well now that I am done with this I can start to work on my SAL again.  I want to finish it so I can work on some other projects.

Thanks so much for looking and have a great weekend.
