Finally A Finish

Good Afternoon,

 I hope everyone has had a great weekend and had plenty of stitching time.  I really haven't stitched since last week when I finally finished my larger project.  My son Blake, is off of dead period and is now in football practice full time.  We also attended our last football camp for the year.  It was quite an experience that I am sure we will have to do again next year.  

Anyway,  I have a finish that is larger than a small and that isn't a ffo.  Because of this, I decided to make a new blog post.  Besides, I was too excited to wait until the end of the month.

My son, Brentley, decided that he would like this once it was finished.  I did make some changes per his request.  I omitted the wording at the top and changed the bottom to gate.  He also didn't like the key dangling from the crow's mouth. I now see I have some of the bottom railing of the gate to do.  I will do that tonight.  

Eventually, this will get framed.  I will probably wait until after school starts which is August 9th this year.

June's Fully Finished SAL

Hi y'all,

I just want to thank Rachel at Ten Hour Stitcher for hosting this wonderful SAL. 

I am happy to say that I have a fully finished project this month.  I stitched this project last year for my son Brentley.  To be honest, this wasn't the original project I was going for.  I started Ink Circles Cirque des Triangles but I kept making mistakes. I decided to scrap the project but I still had a ton of fabric left and a lot of Carrie's Creation overdyed floss.  I then went to search for the perfect pattern and I found one on Etsy. 

A few months ago I was at The Goodwill store and happened upon this frame.  I always try to pick up the square frames and anything else that is unusual.  It was originally a medium brown color but we decided that a white frame would make the project stand out.  We had to wait until the weather was warmer and then Bill (my husband) spray painted the frame white. 

My son has been on vacation to visit my family in Florida, so we took that time to repaint his room.  As you can tell, his favorite color is green.  The picture is now hanging in his room, waiting for him to get home tomorrow.  I think he is really going to love it.

Who is ready for Spring?

Good Morning everyone,

I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday and start of 2019.  I really can't complain.  We didn't do anything special, but it was nice to have extra time with the boys and Bill.  He didn't take the week off like he had planned but he still had two 4 day weekends so that was great.  Weather has been strange, as it hasn't felt like winter, but unfortunately, it is not here to last.  Winter will pay us a visit at the end of the week.  Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

So Think Spring by Lizzie Kate is my last finish for 2018.  I just had the chance to fully finish it yesterday and I love how it turned out.  I hand-dyed some 14ct Aida and used DMC and hand-dyed floss from my stash.  Now I only have Think Summer and Think Autumn and then the series will be done.

I do have some other things I have completed within the last month, I just need to ffo them.  Hopefully, I will be back next week with another update.

2 framed finishes.

Hi y'all. 

Can you believe I am back so soon?  Well I have 2 framed pieces to show you and I am so excited.

This first one was something I stitched at least 10 years ago, and I finally got around to framing it.  I believe it was in an old US Cross stitcher magazine.  It was done on Sassy Fabby's and she hasn't been dyeing fabric in a long time.  I found a frame at the store and spray painted it brown and took the glass out. 

I just love stitching food.  It is so much fun.

The next thing I finished was The Spider and the Fly Mystery SAL by Tempting Tangles Designs.  It was so much fun to stitch.  I stitched it on some 32ct Belfast Linen that I dyed myself and the called for floss.  I found the frame at Michael's and just love how it turned out.

Small's SAL - February edition

Hi y'all,

I am sorry I am late to the party but I finished my small last night.  Thank you to Heather at The Stitching Lotus for hosting this SAL. Here is where you will find her blog and all the info to this SAL.

My finish for this month's SAL is the 2009 Souvenir de Paris freebie by Blackbird Designs.  You can find it here.  I altered the pattern by not including the phrase at the bottom and by changing the date to this year.  The cream floss I used is a little hard to see but once I ffo it I hope that is will stand out more. The fabric is 28 ct opalescent Lugana that I fabric painted pink.

Here is my ffo from my finish earlier this month.  I made the mistake of thinking I can do a circle and it looked awful.  I had to make some alterations but I think it is still cute, mistakes and all.
